American Airlines Cargo has appointed a new and exclusive General Sales and Service Agent (GSSA) in Scandinavia and Finland. With effect from 1st March 2011, North Air Logistics will enter into an agreement with American Airlines Cargo to provide the US carrier with full cargo sales, marketing and customer service activities across the Nordic region.
The new GSSA agreement is a timely development as American Airlines prepares to strengthen its European operations with the forthcoming launch of services to Finland’s capital, Helsinki. From 1st May 2011, the carrier will commence daily direct B767-300 services between Helsinki (HEL) and Chicago (ORD). The addition of a Finnish hub will complement American Airlines’ already established European hubs in Belgium, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Spain, Switzerland and the UK.
“American Airlines is a prestigious US carrier with an outstanding network. We are confident that the new Helsinki services will be a great success and that we can continue to build the cargo business from the Nordic region,” said Henrik Spove, Regional Director Scandinavia and Finland, Air Logistics Group. “While managing the on-line cargo services from Finland, our teams will also provide coverage across Denmark, Norway and Sweden and feed the American Airlines services from other European hubs, in particular London Heathrow where there is an extensive schedule of services to destinations across the US,” Spove adds.
With eighteen experienced staff and three offices located in Copenhagen, Helsinki and Stockholm, North Air Logistics is well positioned to provide effective coverage of the Nordic territories. North Air Logistics is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Air Logistics Group, the Paris-headquartered worldwide GSSA company, and benefits from additional support and expertise from the group’s global network.
“We look forward to welcoming North Air Logistics to our proud portfolio of GSAs and to a long, successful and mutually beneficial business relationship,” said, Tristan Koch, MD EMEA Region, American Airlines Cargo.
